Are you new to co parenting? I’m Marie Drake. I’m a family law attorney here in Colorado and today I’m going to give you a few tips on how to co parent effectively. Tip number one, don’t use the kids as messengers, keep the adult talk with the adults communicate with your co parent, either through text or email or phone calls or a combination of those and let the kids be kids. Tip number two, keep track of the parenting time exchanges. You can do this with an app and there are several are just simply with a notebook that you exchange with one another. It’s best to do this so that there is a record of how these parenting time exchanges went. The third co parenting tip I have is to be flexible. school schedules and work schedules sometimes cause a parenting schedule to run behind. So if somebody is a little late, give them a little grace, the kind of race you’d like if you were running late. I know this is sometimes hard and you probably never expected to have to have a co parenting schedule with your ex. So give us a call if you have any questions. We’re here to help.
