Don’t fall for these 3 prenup misconceptions

Hi, I’m Marie Drake of the Drake law firm. And I’m here today to talk to you about the three biggest misconceptions regarding prenuptial agreements.

Misconception number one is that you have to be a Rockefeller to get a prenup, but you don’t have to be a gazillionaire to get a prenup. You may want to just simply protect your property rights or protect yourself against the liabilities of your spouse.

There’s several reasons to get a prenup, even if you’re not a Rockefeller. The second myth regarding prenups is that somehow you’re planning for divorce. If you’re getting one and that’s just not true, prenup sets up financial expectations for the marriage, and that’s a good thing. And a prenup we’ll lay out, uh, everybody’s assets and liabilities so that there’s no surprises.

The third myth is that somehow people enter into premarital agreements. Don’t trust. But I have found just the opposite. I found that the couple who discloses everything and, and sets out all of their expectations together financially and otherwise tend to trust each other more. If you’re watching this video, you might be planning your marriage and also wondering why consider this because it doesn’t sound that romantic, but in fact, it’s an important part of entering into a relationship.

And if you do have any questions, please give us a call at the Drake law firm.
Thank you.
