There’s something that happens when 16,000 people and over 5,500 dogs descend on one small Colorado town that no amount of preparation can fully capture — pure, unfiltered joy. That was Goldens in Golden 2026, held on Saturday, February 7th along Washington Avenue and Parfet Park in downtown Golden, and The Drake Law Firm, PC was proud to be right in the middle of it.
What Is "Goldens in Golden?"
If you haven’t heard of it yet, Goldens in Golden is one of Colorado’s most beloved annual traditions — and it’s growing fast. Started in 2019, the event honors International Golden Retriever Day by turning downtown Golden, Colorado into what can only be described as the world’s largest, fluffiest block party. Washington Avenue closes to traffic, the iconic “Welcome to Golden” arch fills with wagging tails, and for a few hours, the whole town belongs to the dogs.
This year’s event was the biggest yet. Three official group photos were held under the arch, drawing crowds from across the country. There were vendor villages, dog-friendly shuttles, games, contests, and more smiles per square foot than you’ll find just about anywhere.
It is, as organizers put it, arguably the happiest day of the year.
The Drake Law Firm, PC Was There — and We Came Ready
For our team, Goldens in Golden wasn’t just a fun Saturday morning. It was an opportunity to show up for the community we serve every day. Golden is part of our home, and events like this are the heartbeat of what makes it such a special place to live and work.
Our team was on the ground from 7:30 in the morning and didn’t stop moving until well after the official close. We set up our booth in the thick of the action and came stocked with goodies for both the four-legged and two-legged attendees:
- 300 tennis balls — because no Golden can resist a good tennis ball
- 600 bags of dog treats — fuel for all that tail-wagging
- 400 reflective collar tags — a practical, safety-first gift for pups who love evening walks
- 75 tote bags — for the humans carrying all the leashes, treats, and everything else
Everything was gone before we knew it. Our Plinko machine was a particular hit — at times it was six people deep waiting for a turn to play for prizes. Dogs nuzzled up for treats, kids grabbed tennis balls, and parents stopped to chat with our team. It was the kind of morning that reminds you why community matters.
And in a detail that genuinely surprised us: six different young people — pre-law undergrads and law students — stopped by to ask about internship opportunities. It was a reminder that showing up in your community has a way of opening doors you didn’t expect.
A Day to Remember
By the time the morning wrapped up, our supplies were long gone and our team was buzzing. We’d met hundreds of Golden and Denver Metro area families, handed out enough treats to fuel a small army of retrievers, and had more than a few dogs try to follow us home.
Goldens in Golden 2026 was a record-breaking success — and we’re already looking forward to next year.
